It’s not often we spend our time thinking about light bulbs, but we should give those little guys a lot more thought. Any time the power goes out, it’s a massive crisis that pretty much ruins everything. If we didn’t have light bulbs, you’d have to light a candle and carry it around every time you have to pee. Screw that.

So here’s a gallery to appreciate the things that light up our life. Particularly, appreciating the giant light bulbs of the world – the mothers of the little ones we see every day. And some of these are incredibly, surprisingly massive. 

Lighthouse reflectors are genuine works of art, the one on top of the Edison Monument looks like an awesome sci-fi device, and there are a ton of vintage photos of people holding big bulbs like babies. Because in those days, people showed electricity the love it deserves.
